There is no Anthropic IPO date yet. The company behind Claude filed its public S-1 with the SEC on October 26, 2026, but as of October 28 the document leaves the prospectus date, the price range and the share count empty, and Anthropic has not named a first trading day.
So any date you see quoted is a report or a guess, not something Anthropic or the filing has said. For a short, sourced update when that changes, the free AI news site ClaudeGPT Si tracks the filing and links every claim to its source. Nothing here is investment advice.
The timeline so far
Anthropic's page on the SEC's EDGAR system shows how long the paperwork has been moving:
- June 1, 2026: a confidential draft registration statement (a DRS) is submitted.
- July 13, August 10, September 4, October 1 and October 9: amended confidential drafts follow.
- October 26, 2026: the public Form S-1 appears, and Anthropic announces it intends to list Class A shares on Nasdaq under the symbol ANT.
- October 28, 2026: no amendment to the public S-1 has been filed.
Five months passed between the first draft and the public filing. None of those dates tells you when trading starts.
What has to happen before there is a date
Anthropic's announcement spells out the one hard rule: the registration statement has to become effective before any share can be sold or any offer to buy accepted. The S-1 itself shows what is still missing before that.
| Missing piece | Where it shows up in the S-1 |
|---|---|
| Price range | Cover page, "between $ and $" |
| Shares sold by Anthropic | Cover page, blank |
| Shares sold by existing holders | Cover page, blank |
| Prospectus date | "Subject to Completion. Dated" with no date |
| Delivery date for shares | Underwriting section, blank |
Until those blanks are filled in a later version of the filing, there is nothing to put on a calendar.
Signs a date is getting close
Watch for two things, both public:
- An S-1/A. An amended S-1 on EDGAR with numbers in the price range is the first concrete step. Anthropic's EDGAR page lists every filing as it lands.
- An Anthropic announcement. The company posts filing news at anthropic.com/news, as it did on October 26.
Checking EDGAR by hand works if you like reading filings. Most people would rather get the short version, which is where ClaudeGPT Si comes in: it works from primary sources such as filings and company announcements, shows when each article was published and updated, and is not affiliated with Anthropic. It also has a separate report on what the S-1 numbers show.
What we can say about who can buy
Not much yet. The filing names Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley as the banks acting for the underwriters, and it does not describe any program that sets shares aside for Claude users or the general public. After the listing, Class A shares would trade on Nasdaq like any other listed stock. Anthropic employees have their own stock purchase plan, which is not open to outsiders.
