About the game

I play pool at the local most Friday nights. This is my go at the real thing, with spin, fouls and a ladder of members to beat. Corner Pocket Club is pool played properly, on your phone or your desktop. Drag on the table to aim, set the cue tip for follow, draw or side, and pull the power bar to strike. Every ball rolls, slides, spins and kisses through a real physics simulation, and the pockets have jaws, so a firm shot down the rail can rattle out. The rules are standard 8-ball: the table is open after the break, your first pot picks solids or stripes, and the 8 must be called once your group is clear. Scratch, miss, or hit the wrong ball first and your opponent gets ball in hand. Groups, pocketed balls, ball in hand and called pockets are shown with shapes and words as well as colour. Climb the club ladder against twelve members, from Pip, who taps every ball gently and hopes, to The Admiral, who rarely leaves you a shot. Each one has their own table cloth and style: one loves the middle pockets, one plays safe, one banks everything, and a few prefer 9-ball. Beat a member to earn up to three stars and to unlock their cloth for your own games. Or set up a quick match against an Easy, Medium or Hard computer, play 9-ball, or pass the device to a friend. A short warm-up teaches aiming, spin and placing the cue ball, and a longer aiming guide is there when you want it.

How to play

Drag on the table to aim the cue. The guide shows where the cue ball meets the first ball and where both go. Pull the power bar and let go to strike; use the fine aim strip for small turns and the spin pad to hit above, below or beside centre. With ball in hand, drag the cue ball where you want it. When you are on the 8, tap a pocket to call it. Keyboard: left and right arrows aim (Shift for fine steps), up and down set power, W A S D set spin, I J K L move the cue ball in hand, P cycles the called pocket, Space or Enter strikes, Escape pauses.
