About the game
Sand physics, marbles and mine carts. We tuned the sand for a long time so it falls the way you expect it to. Pebble Dig is a relaxing digging puzzle set in a sunny desert quarry. Marbles rest in hollows inside a cutaway of layered sand, and mine carts wait on a track at the bottom. Drag your finger or mouse through the sand to carve tunnels, and the marbles roll and tumble down them. Every marble has a colour and a shape marker, a red ring, a blue triangle, a green square or a purple star, and only counts in the cart with the same colour and shape. Plan your tunnels so each group reaches its own cart and not a neighbour's. The sand behaves like sand: packed sand holds up arches, but pale loose sand pours like water the moment you dig beside it, and a block you cut free crumbles. Grey cobbled rock cannot be dug, so marbles roll off it like a ramp. Later chapters add striped gates and trapdoors opened by lettered levers, and rail yards where you shunt carts under the right chute. There are 60 levels in five chapters, from Dune garden to Deep quarry. Earn up to three stars by the number of marbles you bring home. A hint draws a dig path for every level, and your progress is saved, even in the middle of a level.
How to play
Drag through the sand to dig; the marbles roll down any tunnel you open. Each marble only counts in the cart of its own colour and shape, and a chute with no cart below loses it. Loose pale sand pours when you dig next to it; grey rock cannot be dug. Pull a lettered lever to open the gate with the same letter, or to shunt a rail cart. Send carts ends the level early when you are happy. Keyboard: arrow keys move the spade, hold Space to dig, 1 to 4 pull levers, H hint, R restart, Enter sends the carts, Escape pauses.
