About the game

Ok, it isn't that flat, I couldn't help the 3D. Drag racing is all timing: the launch, the shifts and the nitro. Getting the reaction times to feel human took ages. Quarter Mile Club is drag racing under the lights. Two cars, one straight strip, a quarter mile or an eighth, over in seconds. There is no steering: the race is won with timing. Hold the gas to stage and rev the engine into the launch band, wait for the staging lights to count down, and launch on the green. Leave too early and it is a red light. Then shift up as the needle hits the green zone on the rev counter: a perfect shift keeps you pulling, an early or late one costs you. You get one nitro bottle per race, so pick your moment. The city has six street crews, from the Dockside Rats down at the docks to the Midnight Monarchs on the hill. Each crew has four racers and a boss with their own car and something to say about yours. Beat a boss and you win their car. Thirty career races take you from an old sedan through muscle cars and tuned imports to supercars and a full dragster, twelve cars over four classes. Spend your prize money in the garage on engine, turbo, gearbox, tyre, nitro and weight upgrades, watch every stage take time off your best run, check the power curve on the dyno and unlock gear ratio tuning. There is a new daily race every day, personal bests for every car, reaction time stats, and a ghost of your own best run to race against.

How to play

Hold Gas to rev and keep the needle in the green launch band. When the lights run down to green, press Launch. Do not go early or you lose with a red light. After the launch, press Shift when the needle reaches the green zone, and press Nitro once for a boost. Keyboard: W or Up to rev, Space, Right or D to launch and shift, N, E or Shift for nitro, Escape to pause. On touch screens, use the Gas and Shift pads at the bottom; after the launch the Gas pad becomes Nitro.
