About the game

A word game from someone who is better at words than JavaScript. Every level grows a tree, which felt fair after all the bugs. Spell Orchard is a relaxed word puzzle in a sunny orchard. Each level gives you a handful of letters on a woven basket wheel and a small crossword plot. Swipe across the apple letters to spell a word; if it belongs in the plot, it grows into place. Every word is a real, family-friendly English word, and many levels hide a few extra words that do not fit the plot. Those bonus words become seeds. Spend two seeds to plant a single hint letter, or five to water a whole word into view. Every ten bonus words fill the jar for three extra seeds. There are 200 levels across ten groves, from Apple Hollow and Pear Lane to Mango Bay and Blueberry Banks. Wheels start with three letters and grow to seven, and the plots grow from three words to ten. Each finished level hangs a new fruit on that grove's tree, and you earn up to three apples by solving without help. Letters can be swiped, tapped one at a time, or typed on a keyboard. Found words, empty squares and hint letters each have their own shape and marking, so the plot reads clearly at any size.

How to play

Swipe across the letters on the wheel to spell a word and let go to plant it. You can also tap letters one by one and press the tick, or type letters and press Enter. Fill every word in the plot to finish the level. Words that are real but not in the plot are bonus words and give a seed each. Hint (2 seeds) shows one letter; Water (5 seeds) shows a whole word; Shuffle turns the wheel. Keyboard: Backspace removes a letter, Space shuffles, 1 Hint, 2 Water, 3 Jar, Escape pauses.

Content notes

No violence, text chat, ads or purchases. Word lists are filtered to leave out offensive, sexual, violent, drug and alcohol words. Seeds are earned in the game only. Gentle sound effects that can be turned off, and motion that can be reduced in settings.
